Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries, tossed with 1 teaspoon flour
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl or stand mixer, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. Add sugar, egg, melted butter, and salt. Mix to combine. Gradually add flour and knead for 6–8 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, prepare the filling. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12×16-inch rectangle. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the blueberries evenly on top. Starting from the long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Slice into 12 even rolls and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30–45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Let cool for 10 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze. Drizzle over the warm rolls and serve.
Notes
- If using frozen blueberries, do not thaw before adding to the filling to prevent excess moisture.
- These rolls can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking. Let them rise at room temperature in the morning before baking as directed.
