Description

These Air Fryer Cheddar Bay Biscuits are a quick and delicious way to enjoy soft, cheesy biscuits with a garlic butter finish. Perfectly flaky and golden brown, they combine sharp cheddar, fresh parsley, and a hint of garlic to create a flavorful side or snack made effortlessly in the air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter (cold, diced)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp parsley (chopped)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (for garlic butter brush)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder. Mix together to ensure an even distribution of the leaveners and seasoning.
  2. Incorporate Cold Butter: Cut the stick of cold butter into small, pea-sized cubes. Using a stand mixer, blender, or pastry cutter, incorporate the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. This step helps create a flaky texture.
  3. Add Cheese and Parsley: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped parsley, mixing just until evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.
  4. Add Buttermilk: Using your hand or a mixing paddle, gently fold in the buttermilk. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should come together to be scoopable but still soft.
  5. Form Biscuits: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil. Using an ice cream scoop or large spoon, portion clumps of dough and place them in the air fryer basket. It’s fine for the biscuits to touch.
  6. Air Fry Biscuits: Spray the tops of the biscuits with oil and air fry at 380°F (193°C) for 5 minutes. Carefully turn the biscuits and cook for an additional 2 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Brush with Garlic Butter: Stir the remaining garlic powder into the melted butter. When biscuits are done, brush the tops with the garlic butter for added flavor.

Notes

  • Keep the butter cold to ensure flaky biscuits.
  • Do not overmix the dough to prevent tough biscuits.
  • You can substitute cheddar with other cheeses like Monterey Jack or mozzarella for variation.
  • Serve warm for best taste.
  • Leftover biscuits can be reheated in the air fryer for a crispy texture.
