Ingredients
Scale
Bread Bowl
- 1 round bread boule (sourdough or any round loaf)
Cheese
- 1 wheel of Brie cheese
Toppings
- 1 cup fresh or dried cranberries
- 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, roughly chopped
- 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Garnish (Optional)
- Fresh rosemary or thyme for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) ensuring it reaches the right temperature for perfect melting and toasting.
- Prepare the Bread Bowl: Cut the top off the bread boule carefully and hollow out the center, leaving about a 1-inch thick shell. Keep the removed bread aside to use later for dipping.
- Prepare the Brie: Remove the top rind of the Brie wheel and place the wheel inside the hollowed-out bread bowl for even melting.
- Add Toppings: In a small bowl, combine cranberries, chopped nuts, honey or maple syrup, and ground cinnamon. Spoon this mixture evenly over the Brie cheese in the bread bowl.
- Bake: Set the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until the Brie is melted and bubbling and the bread exterior is toasted and golden.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh rosemary or thyme if desired, and serve immediately with the reserved bread pieces, crackers, or sliced apples for dipping.
Notes
- You can substitute dried cranberries for fresh if fresh are not in season.
- Use pecans or walnuts depending on your preference or availability.
- Maple syrup or honey can be used interchangeably for a natural sweetness.
- For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free bread boule.
- Serve while the Brie is warm and melty for the best texture and flavor.
