Ingredients
Scale
Base
- 4 large croissants, torn into bite-sized pieces
- 1 1/2 cups mixed fresh berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
Custard Mixture
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For Serving (Optional)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Maple syrup or whipped cream
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Arrange Croissants and Berries: Spread the torn croissant pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish, then sprinkle the fresh mixed berries over the top to distribute evenly.
- Make Custard: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Combine and Soak: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants and berries. Gently press down the croissants so they absorb the custard. Let the dish sit for 10–15 minutes to ensure the croissants soak up the custard thoroughly.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set in the center.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bake to cool for 5–10 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm with maple syrup or whipped cream for an extra special touch.
