Description

This Big Mac Pizza combines the iconic flavors of the classic Big Mac burger with the cheesy, crispy goodness of pizza. Featuring ground beef, Thousand Island dressing, shredded lettuce, pickles, and a blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses on a golden crust, this recipe offers a fun and delicious twist on two favorite comfort foods.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Base and Sauce

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup Thousand Island dressing
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Beef Topping

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Cheese and Vegetables

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced dill pickles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure it’s hot enough for a crispy crust.
  2. Prepare Dough: Roll out the pizza dough onto a lightly greased baking sheet or pizza stone, spreading it evenly to your desired thickness.
  3. Cook Beef: In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef seasoned with salt and black pepper until fully browned. Drain any excess fat to avoid a greasy pizza.
  4. Assemble Base: Spread the Thousand Island dressing evenly over the rolled-out dough; this acts as the pizza sauce and recreates the signature Big Mac flavor.
  5. Add Cheese and Toppings: Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses over the sauce. Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef and diced onion on top, then add the remaining cheese over them.
  6. Bake: Place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  7. Add Fresh Toppings: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Then, top with shredded lettuce, diced dill pickles, and sprinkle sesame seeds if using to mimic the look and taste of a Big Mac bun.
  8. Serve: Slice the pizza into 8 pieces and serve immediately while warm and delicious.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, mix ketchup and mayo into the Thousand Island dressing to replicate the classic Big Mac sauce.
  • Brush the pizza crust with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds on top before baking to give the crust a burger bun texture and appearance.
  • Use a pizza stone if available for a crispier crust.
  • Customize with additional toppings like tomatoes or extra pickles based on your preferences.
