Description

These BLT Skewers with Avocado Sauce are a fun twist on the classic flavors of a BLT sandwich, perfect for parties or as a unique appetizer. Crispy bacon, juicy tomatoes, and creamy avocado sauce come together in a delightful bite-sized skewer.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Skewers:

  • 16 cherry tomatoes
  • 8 slices cooked bacon (cut into thirds)
  • 1 cup romaine or iceberg lettuce (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 16 small toasted bread cubes (optional, for a full BLT effect)
  • wooden skewers or cocktail picks

For the Avocado Sauce:

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 tablespoons water (to thin, if needed)

Instructions

  1. Make the Avocado Sauce: Combine avocado, sour cream, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper in a blender. Blend until smooth, adding water as needed for desired consistency. Chill until serving.
  2. Assemble the Skewers: Thread tomato, bacon, lettuce, and bread (if using) onto skewers. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  3. Serve: Arrange skewers on a platter and serve with chilled avocado sauce for dipping or drizzling.

Notes

  • Refrigerate skewers ahead but add bread cubes just before serving for crispness.
  • For a low-carb option, omit the bread cubes.
