Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp melted butter
Other Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare the Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a donut pan to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt to evenly distribute the leavening agents and sugar.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the whole milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well blended.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gently fold the wet ingredient mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined to avoid overmixing which could toughen the donuts.
- Add Blueberries: Carefully fold in the fresh blueberries, taking care not to break them to keep donuts visually appealing and to prevent streaks of purple in the batter.
- Fill Donut Pan and Bake: Spoon the batter into the greased donut pan, filling each cavity about halfway, and bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool Donuts: Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely to avoid sogginess.
- Prepare Glaze and Finish: Whisk together powdered sugar and milk to create a smooth glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the warm donuts, allowing it to set before serving.
Notes
- For a dairy-free version, substitute whole milk with almond or oat milk and use a dairy-free butter alternative.
- Fresh blueberries are recommended for the best texture and flavor, but frozen can be used if thawed and drained well.
- Do not overfill the donut pan to avoid batter spilling over during baking.
- Use a toothpick test to check for doneness to prevent under or overbaking.
- The glaze can be flavored with lemon zest or a splash of lemon juice for added brightness.
