Description

Bunny Bait is a festive, sweet and salty popcorn snack mix featuring popcorn, broken pretzels, pastel-colored milk and white chocolate M&M’s, and drizzles of white and pink candy coatings. Perfect for springtime celebrations or Easter, this treat combines crunchy textures with colorful candy for a delightful and easy-to-make party snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn Mix

  • 2 standard-size bags Simply Salted or Tender White popcorn (e.g., Orville Redenbacher brand)
  • 2 cups broken pretzel sticks
  • 1 bag (10 ounces) milk chocolate M&M’s (pastel colored)
  • 1 bag (10 ounces) white chocolate M&M’s (pastel colored)

Candy Coatings

  • 1 bag (12 ounces) white candy coating
  • 1 bag (12 ounces) pink candy coating

Instructions

  1. Pop and Prepare Popcorn Mix: Pop the popcorn according to package directions and divide evenly between two extra-large bowls. Remove as many unpopped kernels as possible. Evenly divide broken pretzel sticks, milk chocolate M&M’s, and white chocolate M&M’s between the two bowls. Toss gently to combine all ingredients.
  2. Melt and Drizzle White Candy Coating: Melt the white candy coating following package instructions until smooth and fully melted. Gradually drizzle the melted white candy coating over both popcorn mixtures while tossing continuously to ensure even coating of the ingredients. This process takes a minute to thoroughly coat everything.
  3. Set First Coating: Line two large baking sheets with parchment or wax paper. Quickly pour the warm coated popcorn mixtures evenly onto the prepared baking sheets. Let them sit undisturbed for 10 to 15 minutes to begin setting.
  4. Melt and Drizzle Pink Candy Coating: Melt the pink candy coating as per package directions. Drizzle the melted pink coating evenly over the tops of the popcorn mixtures on the baking sheets.
  5. Final Setting and Serving: Allow the pink candy coating to set for 10 to 15 minutes. Once firm, break the mixture apart into bite-sized clusters. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Be sure to remove unpopped kernels to prevent any hard bites.
  • Use parchment or wax paper to prevent sticking during candy coating setting.
  • This snack keeps best when stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
  • For a different color scheme, substitute the candy coating colors as desired.
  • Mix gently to avoid breaking the M&M’s too much.
