- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup buttermilk (cold)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and prepare the baking sheet: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.
- Cut in the butter: Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add cheese and buttermilk: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, then pour in the cold buttermilk and gently mix until the dough comes together.
- Shape and bake: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, pat into a rectangle, fold, and repeat. Cut into rounds or squares, place on the baking sheet, and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with butter: Once baked, brush the warm biscuits with melted butter before serving.
