Description

Indulge in these delightful Cherry Cheese Danishes made with puff pastry, creamy cheese, and sweet cherry filling. These pastries are perfect for breakfast or dessert, with a flaky crust and a burst of fruity flavor.

Ingredients

Puff Pastry:

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

Cream Cheese Filling:

4 oz cream cheese, softened, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Egg Wash:

1 egg, 1 tablespoon water

Filling and Glaze:

½ cup cherry pie filling, ¼ cup powdered sugar, 1–2 teaspoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Cream Cheese Filling: In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Prepare Egg Wash: In another bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to make an egg wash.
  4. Prepare Puff Pastry: Unfold the puff pastry sheet and cut it into 6 equal rectangles. Lightly score a border around each rectangle about ½ inch from the edge. Prick the center of each rectangle with a fork.
  5. Add Fillings: Spread cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry, top with cherries and filling. Brush borders with egg wash.
  6. Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly.
  7. Make Glaze: Mix powdered sugar with milk for glaze. Drizzle over danishes.

Notes

  • You can substitute cherry pie filling with blueberry or apple.
  • Best enjoyed the same day but can be stored in the fridge and reheated briefly in the oven.
