Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup toasted pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Cream Cheese Layer
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
Pudding Layer
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 (3.4-ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
- 1 (3.4-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
Topping
- Remaining whipped topping from container
- Chocolate syrup, for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly coat a 13×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Make and Bake Crust: In a bowl, combine self-rising flour, chopped toasted pecans, and melted butter. Mix until thoroughly combined, then press this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the crust is set and lightly golden. Remove from oven and allow it to cool completely.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Layer: Using a mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Gradually add in the powdered sugar and continue mixing until fully incorporated. Gently fold in 1 cup of the thawed whipped topping to create a light, fluffy cream cheese layer. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
- Mix and Spread Pudding Layer: In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole milk and both instant chocolate and vanilla pudding mixes until the mixture thickens. Allow it to stand briefly to set more firmly. Spread this pudding layer evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Add Final Topping: Spread the remaining whipped topping over the pudding layer to create a smooth finish. For extra indulgence, drizzle chocolate syrup on top if desired.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the entire dessert for at least 2 hours to allow it to set properly before slicing and serving. This chilling step enhances the flavors and texture.
Notes
- Ensure the crust is completely cooled before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting.
- You can substitute toasted walnuts or almonds for pecans if preferred.
- For a lower-fat version, use low-fat milk and whipped topping alternatives.
- Chocolate syrup topping is optional but adds a nice decorative and flavor touch.
- Store the dessert covered in the refrigerator and consume within 3 days for best freshness.
