Description

This Creamy Jamaican Shrimp Pasta combines flavorful jerk-seasoned shrimp with tender fettuccine tossed in a rich, creamy Parmesan sauce enhanced by sautéed bell peppers and onions. Ready in just 30 minutes, this vibrant dish is perfect for a quick, satisfying party meal with a Caribbean twist.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 8 oz fettuccine or linguine

Shrimp

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp jerk seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Vegetables

  • ½ red bell pepper, sliced
  • ½ yellow onion, sliced

Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the fettuccine or linguine according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
  2. Season and Sauté Shrimp: Toss the peeled and deveined shrimp with jerk seasoning evenly. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and sauté for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the sliced red bell pepper and yellow onion. Sauté for 3-4 minutes or until the vegetables are softened and slightly caramelized.
  4. Prepare Creamy Sauce: Pour in the heavy cream, chicken broth, and grated Parmesan into the skillet with the vegetables. Stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Combine Pasta and Shrimp: Return the cooked shrimp and drained pasta to the skillet. Toss everything together thoroughly to coat the pasta and shrimp in the creamy, cheesy sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
  6. Serve: Serve the creamy Jamaican shrimp pasta warm, garnished if desired, and enjoy this easy and flavorful dish.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add extra jerk seasoning or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • If preferred, substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth to make the dish pescatarian friendly.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for best flavor and easy melting.
  • Ensure shrimp is fully cooked but not overcooked to maintain a tender texture.
  • This dish pairs well with a light green salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
