Description

Crispy Garlic Parmesan Wings are a delicious appetizer featuring oven-baked chicken wings coated with a flavorful blend of spices, then tossed in a garlicky butter sauce and topped with fresh Parmesan cheese and parsley. Perfect for game day or party snacks, these wings achieve a crispy texture without frying by baking with baking powder.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • 2 pounds chicken wings (drumettes and flats)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Garlic Parmesan Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • extra Parmesan for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare wings: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top to allow air circulation and crisping. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture for better crispiness.
  2. Season wings: In a large bowl, toss the wings with the baking powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder until they are evenly coated. The baking powder helps to create a crispy skin during baking.
  3. Bake wings: Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, flipping them halfway through to ensure even crisping and browning. The wings should be golden and crisp when done.
  4. Prepare garlic butter sauce: While the wings bake, melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant but not browned to avoid bitterness. Remove from heat immediately.
  5. Toss wings with sauce and Parmesan: When the wings are cooked and crispy, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the garlic butter over the wings and toss well to coat evenly. Then add the freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley, tossing again to combine all the flavors.
  6. Serve: Serve the wings immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan if desired for an extra cheesy finish.

Notes

  • For even crispier wings, let them air-dry uncovered in the refrigerator for several hours before baking.
  • You can alternatively prepare these wings in an air fryer at 400°F for 20–25 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping.
