Description

This Dutch Oven Lasagna recipe is a convenient one-pot meal that delivers all the classic flavors of a traditional lasagna without the fuss. Meat Sauce:

  • 1 pound ground beef (or Italian sausage)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Lasagna Layers:

  • 9 uncooked lasagna noodles (regular or oven-ready)
  • 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil or parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook Meat Sauce: In a Dutch oven over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned. Add garlic, then stir in marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Prepare Ricotta Mixture: Mix ricotta cheese with egg and a pinch of salt in a small bowl.
  4. Layer Lasagna: Remove half the meat sauce and layer 3 lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Repeat layers twice more, ending with sauce and cheese on top.
  5. Bake: Cover with the Dutch oven lid and bake for 35 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with basil or parsley if desired.
