Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Mixture
- 1 box (18 oz) brownie mix
- Eggs, oil, and water as called for on the brownie mix box
Coating
- 1 cup chocolate chips or chocolate candy melts
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (optional, for thinning chocolate)
Garnish (Optional)
- Sprinkles
- Cocoa powder
- Chopped nuts
Instructions
- Prepare brownies: Follow the instructions on the brownie mix box to prepare the brownie batter using the required eggs, oil, and water. Bake the brownies in the suggested pan and time until fully cooked and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the brownies: Allow the baked brownies to cool completely at room temperature to ensure they hold their shape when forming truffles.
- Crumble the brownies: Using your hands or a fork, crumble the cooled brownies into fine crumbs in a mixing bowl.
- Form truffle balls: Roll the brownie crumbs into approximately 1-inch diameter balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate or freeze for 15 minutes to firm up.
- Melt chocolate coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips or candy melts with the optional vegetable oil in 20-30 second intervals, stirring between, until smooth and fully melted.
- Coat truffles: Dip each chilled brownie ball into the melted chocolate, using a fork or dipping tool to fully coat, then place back onto the parchment paper.
- Add garnish: Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle with sprinkles, dust with cocoa powder, or press chopped nuts onto the truffle surface as desired.
- Set the truffles: Refrigerate the coated truffles for at least 20-30 minutes or until the chocolate is firm and set.
- Serve and enjoy: Bring the truffles to room temperature for a few minutes before serving for best flavor and texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
- Use good quality chocolate or candy melts for a smooth coating.
- If the chocolate is too thick for dipping, add a little more vegetable oil to thin it out.
- Store leftover truffles refrigerated and consume within one week.
- You can customize the garnishes to suit your taste or occasion.
- For quicker firmness, freeze truffles for 10 minutes instead of refrigerating.
