Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
Topping:
- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Caramel Layer:
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Make Crust: Mix flour, 1 cup brown sugar, and softened butter until crumbly. Press into the pan.
- Add Pecans: Sprinkle chopped pecans over the crust.
- Prepare Caramel: Melt butter, brown sugar, and salt in a saucepan until boiling. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and pour over the crust.
- Bake: Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden.
- Add Chocolate: Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot bars, let melt, then spread evenly.
- Cool and Serve: Cool completely before cutting into bars.
Notes
- You can add a pinch of sea salt on top for a salted caramel flavor.
- Bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
