Description

Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

Topping:

  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Caramel Layer:

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Make Crust: Mix flour, 1 cup brown sugar, and softened butter until crumbly. Press into the pan.
  3. Add Pecans: Sprinkle chopped pecans over the crust.
  4. Prepare Caramel: Melt butter, brown sugar, and salt in a saucepan until boiling. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and pour over the crust.
  5. Bake: Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden.
  6. Add Chocolate: Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot bars, let melt, then spread evenly.
  7. Cool and Serve: Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • You can add a pinch of sea salt on top for a salted caramel flavor.
