Ingredients
Scale
Beef and Coating
- 12 ounces flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Noodles and Sauce
- 8 ounces noodles (lo mein, ramen, or spaghetti)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Garnish
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Cook Noodles: Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain them well and set aside to keep warm.
- Prepare Beef: Toss the thinly sliced beef with cornstarch in a medium bowl to coat each piece evenly.
- Cook Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
- Make Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well and allow the sauce to simmer for 2–3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Toss Noodles: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the sauce, tossing them to coat evenly with the flavorful mixture.
- Combine Beef: Return the crispy beef to the skillet with the noodles and gently stir to combine. Cook everything together for 1–2 more minutes until heated through.
- Garnish and Serve: Transfer the beef and noodles to serving dishes and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For added crunch and nutrition, stir-fry vegetables like bell peppers, snap peas, or broccoli and toss them in with the noodles.
- To make this recipe gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari.
- Serve immediately for the crispiest beef texture; the beef tends to soften if left standing too long.
