Ingredients
Scale
Secret Sauce
- 1/3 cup mayo
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 teaspoons dill pickle relish
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1/4 tsp paprika
Burgers
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 egg white
- 1 small yellow onion, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 hamburger buns (seedless)
- Lettuce, tomato, and onion for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Secret Sauce: In a medium bowl, mix together the mayo, ketchup, dill pickle relish, mustard, and paprika until well combined. Cover and refrigerate the sauce until you are ready to assemble the burgers.
- Make the Burger Patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg white, grated onion, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, and fresh ground pepper. Gently mix the ingredients together using your hands or a fork, being careful not to overwork the meat. Shape the mixture into four thin, evenly sized patties.
- Cook the Patties: Heat an outdoor grill or stovetop skillet to medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes per side, or until no longer pink in the center. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty to melt.
- Toast the Buns: While the patties cook, toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- Assemble the Burgers: Spread a generous amount of the secret sauce on the inside of each toasted bun. Place the grilled patties with melted cheese on the bottom buns, then top with fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion slices if desired. Cover with the top bun and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- For a juicier burger, do not overmix the meat when combining the ingredients.
- Adjust the amount of secret sauce to taste or add pickles directly if preferred.
- Use freshly grated onion for best flavor and moisture in the patties.
- Feel free to customize toppings based on your preference, such as adding pickles, or extra tomato slices.
- Cook patties to at least 160°F internal temperature to ensure safety with ground beef.
