Ingredients
Scale
Cookie Dough
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 package (3 ounces) flavored gelatin (such as strawberry, lime, orange, or cherry)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Optional
- Additional flavored gelatin for rolling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheets: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Cream Butter, Sugar, and Gelatin: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and flavored gelatin powder until the mixture is light, fluffy, and well combined.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time along with the vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt to evenly distribute the leavening and seasoning.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined to avoid overmixing and tough cookies.
- Customize Dough Colors (Optional): If using multiple gelatin flavors, divide the dough into portions and knead in different flavors to create colorful batches.
- Form Cookie Balls: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. For a brighter finish, optionally roll the balls in extra flavored gelatin powder.
- Arrange and Flatten: Place the balls on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Slightly flatten each cookie with the bottom of a glass to ensure even baking.
- Bake the Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 8–10 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers remain soft to the touch.
- Cool: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
