Tofu:
- 1 block (400g) firm tofu, cut into 1/2-inch thick slices
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil
Sauce:
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the Tofu: Pat the tofu dry and pan-fry until golden brown. Set aside.
- Make the Sauce: In the same pan, combine water, soy sauce, gochugaru, sesame oil, sugar, and garlic. Simmer.
- Braise the Tofu: Return tofu to the pan, add onion slices, and simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Finish and Serve: Garnish with green onion and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- For a milder version, reduce the gochugaru or substitute with sweet paprika.
- Serve with steamed rice for a complete meal.
