Description

Marry Me Chicken is a rich and creamy skillet chicken dish featuring tender chicken breasts simmered in a flavorful sauce made with heavy cream, sun-dried tomatoes, Dijon mustard, and Parmesan cheese. This comforting recipe combines aromatic herbs and spices with a luscious sauce that’s perfect for a special weeknight dinner or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat to ensure it’s hot enough for searing the chicken.
  2. Prepare to cook chicken: Add the olive oil to the hot skillet and allow it to heat up, creating a non-stick surface for cooking.
  3. Season chicken: Season both sides of the chicken breasts evenly with garlic powder, onion powder, dried basil, dried thyme, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes for a balanced herb- and spice-infused flavor.
  4. Sear the chicken: Place the seasoned chicken breasts into the skillet and cook for approximately 6 to 7 minutes on each side until golden brown and fully cooked through.
  5. Remove chicken: Take the chicken breasts out of the skillet and set them aside on a plate while you prepare the sauce.
  6. Make the sauce: Into the same skillet, pour the heavy cream, chicken broth, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice.
  7. Combine and simmer: Stir the sauce ingredients together and bring it to a gentle simmer to start thickening.
  8. Thicken the sauce: Let the sauce simmer for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly and the flavors meld.
  9. Add tomatoes and cheese: Stir in the chopped sun-dried tomatoes and grated Parmesan cheese into the sauce to add texture and rich flavor.
  10. Incorporate mixture: Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute the tomatoes and cheese throughout the creamy sauce.
  11. Return chicken to skillet: Place the cooked chicken breasts back into the skillet, nestling them into the sauce.
  12. Spoon sauce over chicken: Ladle some sauce over the chicken to coat and enhance each piece with the creamy mixture.
  13. Final simmer: Let the chicken simmer in the sauce for 2 to 3 minutes to reheat and absorb the savory flavors.
  14. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the chicken and sauce, adding a bright, fresh finish just before serving.
