Description

Mississippi Sin Dip is a rich and creamy baked cheese dip featuring a blend of cream cheese, cheddar, sour cream, bacon, and flavorful spices. Served warm in a hollowed-out French bread loaf with toasted bread chunks or veggies, this indulgent appetizer is perfect for parties or game days.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread (unsliced)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped cooked bacon
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional hot sauce to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cut a large oval opening in the top of the French bread loaf and hollow out the center, leaving about a 1-inch thick shell to hold the dip.
  2. Mix the dip: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped cooked bacon, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and hot sauce if desired. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  3. Fill the bread: Spoon the dip mixture into the hollowed-out bread loaf, spreading it evenly inside the shell.
  4. Bake the dip: Wrap the entire filled loaf in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the dip is hot and bubbly.
  5. Toast the top: During the last 10 minutes of baking, unwrap the top of the foil to allow the dip’s surface to brown and get a toasted finish.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm, using the reserved hollowed bread pieces, crackers, or vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • Prepare the dip a day ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake for better flavor development.
  • Substitute cooked sausage or ham if you prefer over bacon.
  • Add diced jalapeños or extra hot sauce to increase the heat.
