Description

Delicious and moist Nutella Banana Muffins combining the rich flavor of Nutella with ripe bananas, perfect for a sweet breakfast treat or snack. These muffins are easy to prepare, featuring a soft texture enhanced with optional chocolate chips for extra indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional

  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a muffin tin by lining it with paper liners or greasing the cups to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Add Nutella, melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract and stir until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to ensure even distribution of leavening agents.
  4. Mix Batter: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overmixing, which can result in dense muffins.
  5. Fill Muffin Cups: Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full. If desired, sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the batter for added flavor and texture.
  6. Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
  7. Cool: Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This helps them set properly and makes them easier to remove from the tin.

Notes

  • You can substitute Nutella with any other chocolate hazelnut spread if desired.
  • Overmixing the batter can result in tough muffins, so mix until ingredients are just combined.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute milk with almond or oat milk and use a dairy-free butter alternative.
  • Frozen chocolate chips can also be used; they won’t melt as much and add a nice texture.
  • Store muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
