Ingredients
Scale
Base Layer
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
Topping
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
Instructions
- Make the Base Mixture: In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of creamy peanut butter, melted unsalted butter, graham cracker crumbs, and powdered sugar. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and all ingredients are well integrated.
- Press Into Pan: Grease a 9×13-inch pan lightly, then press the peanut butter mixture evenly into the pan. Smooth the surface with a spatula to ensure an even layer.
- Melt Chocolate Topping: Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is melted and creamy.
- Apply Chocolate Layer: Pour the melted chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the base layer in the pan. Spread it evenly using a spatula or the back of a spoon.
- Chill to Set: Refrigerate the assembled bars for at least 2 hours, or until the chocolate topping is firm and set completely. After chilling, cut into 24 squares and serve.
Notes
- For a crunchier texture, toast the graham crackers before mixing.
- Use creamy peanut butter for smooth consistency, but chunky can be substituted for added texture.
- Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- To soften the topping for easier cutting, let bars sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before slicing.
