Description

P.F. Chang’s Lettuce Wraps feature a deliciously savory ground chicken filling infused with garlic, ginger, and a hint of chili paste, all wrapped in crisp romaine lettuce leaves. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for a light, flavorful appetizer or meal that combines vibrant Asian-inspired flavors with fresh, crunchy texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Filling

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Wrap

  • Romaine lettuce leaves, for wrapping

Instructions

  1. Sauté Onions: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent, approximately 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add Aromatics: Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Cook Chicken: Add ground chicken to the skillet. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart continuously to ensure even cooking.
  4. Season Meat: Mix in soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili paste, and sesame oil. Stir and cook the mixture for another 2-3 minutes to allow flavors to meld and coat the chicken evenly.
  5. Finish Filling: Remove the skillet from heat and fold in the chopped green onions and cilantro for fresh herbal notes.
  6. Assemble Wraps: Spoon the flavorful chicken mixture into romaine lettuce leaves, wrapping them up tightly. Serve immediately to enjoy the crispness of the lettuce with the warm filling.

Notes

  • For added crunch, consider topping the filling with chopped water chestnuts or diced bell peppers.
  • To make it spicier, increase the amount of chili paste or add chili flakes according to taste.
  • Can substitute ground chicken with ground turkey or pork as alternatives.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce to make this dish gluten-free.
  • Serve with a side of steamed rice or noodles for a more filling meal.
