Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Seasoning
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
Tortillas and Cheese
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 2 cups shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
Fresh Toppings
- Lettuce, shredded (1 cup)
- 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1-2 jalapeños, thinly sliced
Other
- Sour cream (for serving, about 1/2 cup)
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Gather all ingredients and chop the lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and jalapeños into desired serving sizes to have fresh toppings ready.
- Cook Patties: Mix the ground beef with chili powder and cumin evenly. Form into 4 equal patties. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until they are browned and cooked through.
- Assemble Burgers: Place one cooked patty on a flour tortilla. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese over the patty, then place a second tortilla on top, creating a quesadilla-style sandwich.
- Grill Quesadilla Burgers: Return the assembled burgers to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until the tortillas are golden brown, crispy, and the cheese inside has melted completely.
- Add Toppings and Serve: Remove the quesadilla burgers from the skillet, top with shredded lettuce, tomato slices, avocado slices, jalapeños, and a dollop of sour cream. Slice each burger in half and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- You can customize the seasoning of the beef patties to your taste preference by adding garlic powder or smoked paprika.
- Use medium-sized flour tortillas; smaller tortillas may not hold the patty well, and larger ones may be difficult to crisp evenly.
- For extra flavor, consider adding sliced onions or pickles to the toppings.
- If preferred, you can use a grill pan or outdoor grill to crisp the quesadilla burgers instead of a skillet.
- Ensure the skillet is hot enough before placing the assembled burgers to achieve a crispy tortilla crust.
