Description

Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients:
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough (or crescent sheets)
- 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (if using egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cook the sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until fully browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess grease and let the sausage cool slightly.
- Mix sausage and cream cheese: In a medium bowl, mix the cooked sausage with the softened cream cheese until evenly combined.
- Prepare the pinwheels: Unroll one can of crescent dough onto a clean surface and press the seams together to form a rectangle. Spread half of the sausage mixture evenly over the dough, then roll it tightly into a log starting from the long edge. Slice into ½-inch pieces and place cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the second can of dough and remaining filling.
- Bake: If desired, whisk the egg with water and brush over the tops for a golden finish. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown. Serve warm.
