Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 pound ground beef, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1 large egg, 2 cloves garlic minced, 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.

For the Pasta:

2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 medium onion diced, 3 cups marinara sauce, 4 cups chicken broth, 12 ounces uncooked spaghetti broken in half, 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional).

For Serving:

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, fresh basil leaves for garnish.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Form into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Brown meatballs in olive oil in a large skillet. Set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: Sauté onion, then add marinara sauce, chicken broth, spaghetti, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Return meatballs to the pot.
  4. Simmer: Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 12–14 minutes until pasta is tender and meatballs are cooked through.
  5. Serve: Garnish with Parmesan and basil before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a mix of ground beef and pork.
  • If the sauce thickens too much, add a splash of broth or water.
