Description

This spicy guacamole recipe is a vibrant and flavorful Mexican appetizer, perfect for parties or a quick snack. Made from ripe avocados combined with fresh jalapeño, red onion, garlic, and tangy lime juice, it offers a perfect balance of creamy texture and a spicy kick. Easy to prepare with no cooking required, this homemade guacamole is a crowd-pleaser that pairs wonderfully with tortilla chips or fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Guacamole Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Roma tomato, seeded and diced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Avocados: Cut the avocados in half and remove the pits. Scoop the flesh into a medium bowl. Mash with a fork until mostly smooth but still a bit chunky for texture.
  2. Add Ingredients: To the mashed avocados, add the finely chopped jalapeño, diced red onion, minced garlic, diced tomato, chopped cilantro, lime juice, ground cumin, and optional cayenne pepper. Stir gently to combine all ingredients well.
  3. Season: Season the mixture with salt and black pepper according to your taste. Adjust the spice level by adding more jalapeño or cayenne if you prefer extra heat.
  4. Serve or Store: Serve the guacamole immediately with tortilla chips for best flavor. If storing, cover the surface directly with plastic wrap to prevent browning and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  • For a smoky twist, add a pinch of smoked paprika or some diced chipotle pepper to the guacamole.
  • To keep leftovers green longer, store the guacamole with the avocado pit inside and cover tightly with plastic wrap.
