Scale
Pizza Base
- 1 lb pizza dough
Meat and Sauce
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup refried beans
- 1/2 cup salsa
Cheese and Toppings
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
- Chopped cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 450°F to ensure it reaches the optimal temperature for a crispy crust.
- Prepare Dough: Roll out the pizza dough onto a lightly greased baking sheet or a pizza stone, shaping it to your desired thickness and size.
- Cook Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is fully browned, then drain any excess fat to keep the pizza from being greasy.
- Season Beef: Add the taco seasoning and water to the cooked beef, simmering for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens and flavors meld.
- Spread Bean Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the refried beans and salsa until smooth, then spread this evenly over the rolled out pizza dough to form the base layer.
- Add Toppings: Top the bean layer with the seasoned ground beef, then sprinkle the shredded Mexican blend cheese evenly on top.
- Bake Pizza: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese melts and becomes bubbly.
- Add Fresh Toppings: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately add the chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sliced black olives, and diced red onion for fresh crunch and flavor.
- Finish and Serve: Drizzle the pizza with sour cream if desired, sprinkle with chopped cilantro, slice into 6 pieces, and serve warm for the best taste.
