Description

A delicious and easy Taco Pizza recipe combining the flavors of seasoned ground beef, refried beans, and fresh toppings on a crispy baked pizza crust. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a flavorful party dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Base

  • 1 lb pizza dough

Meat and Sauce

  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup refried beans
  • 1/2 cup salsa

Cheese and Toppings

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 450°F to ensure it reaches the optimal temperature for a crispy crust.
  2. Prepare Dough: Roll out the pizza dough onto a lightly greased baking sheet or a pizza stone, shaping it to your desired thickness and size.
  3. Cook Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is fully browned, then drain any excess fat to keep the pizza from being greasy.
  4. Season Beef: Add the taco seasoning and water to the cooked beef, simmering for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens and flavors meld.
  5. Spread Bean Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the refried beans and salsa until smooth, then spread this evenly over the rolled out pizza dough to form the base layer.
  6. Add Toppings: Top the bean layer with the seasoned ground beef, then sprinkle the shredded Mexican blend cheese evenly on top.
  7. Bake Pizza: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese melts and becomes bubbly.
  8. Add Fresh Toppings: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately add the chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sliced black olives, and diced red onion for fresh crunch and flavor.
  9. Finish and Serve: Drizzle the pizza with sour cream if desired, sprinkle with chopped cilantro, slice into 6 pieces, and serve warm for the best taste.

Notes

  • You can use either store-bought or homemade pizza dough based on your preference or time available.
  • Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based meat alternatives for a lighter or vegetarian option.
  • Add sliced jalapeños or a few dashes of hot sauce if you prefer a spicier pizza.
