Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 2 slices of sourdough bread (or any bread of your choice)
- 4–6 oz sliced cooked turkey breast (leftover turkey works great!)
- 2 slices of cheese (Swiss, cheddar, or provolone are great options)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for grilling)
Optional Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Lettuce and tomato slices (optional, for added freshness)
- Pickles (optional, for a tangy crunch)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread, if using. Alternatively, skip the mayo and use butter only for a more traditional turkey melt flavor.
- Assemble the Sandwich: On the unbuttered side of one slice of bread, layer the turkey slices evenly. Place the cheese on top of the turkey, then add lettuce and tomato slices if using.
- Grill the Sandwich: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the pan. Place the sandwich buttered-side down in the skillet. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese has melted.
- Serve: Remove the sandwich from the skillet once grilled to perfection. Slice in half and serve immediately with pickles or your choice of chips or salad for a complete meal.
Notes
- Using leftover cooked turkey breast makes this recipe quick and easy.
- Choose your favorite cheese for different flavor profiles—Swiss, cheddar, and provolone all work well.
- For a healthier option, use light butter or a non-dairy spread.
- Adding Dijon mustard can give a nice tangy kick.
- Serving with pickles or a fresh salad enhances the meal.
