Ingredients
Scale
Bread and Butter
- 4 slices of thick bread (sourdough or your choice)
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Shrimp and Cheese
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Shrimp: Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Season the peeled and deveined shrimp with salt and pepper. Add the shrimp along with the minced garlic and sauté in melted butter for 3-4 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and are fully cooked. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare the Bread: Brush each slice of bread generously with the melted butter, then sprinkle with minced garlic to infuse the bread with rich garlic flavor.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Place two slices of the buttered bread on a clean surface. On each slice, layer the shredded mozzarella cheese followed by the grated Parmesan cheese. Top the cheese layers evenly with the sautéed shrimp.
- Close the Sandwiches: Cover the shrimp and cheese layers with the remaining two slices of bread, buttered side facing out to ensure a golden crust when grilled.
- Grill the Sandwiches: Using the same pan where the shrimp were cooked, place the assembled sandwiches over medium heat. Press down gently with a spatula and grill each side for about 4-5 minutes, until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese inside has melted thoroughly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the grilled sandwiches from the pan. Optionally sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top for added color and freshness. Serve warm with a side salad or chips to complete the meal.
Notes
- Ensure the shrimp are cooked just until pink for the best texture and flavor; overcooking can make them rubbery.
- You can substitute the mozzarella and Parmesan with any melty cheese of your choice, such as cheddar or provolone.
- Use thick slices of sturdy bread like sourdough to hold all the filling without becoming soggy.
- If you want extra garlic flavor, add a garlic butter spread inside the sandwich as well.
- To make cleanup easier, use a non-stick skillet or line the pan with parchment paper before grilling.
